Referral FAQ
Q: I called the doctor you referred me to, but they say they don’t see my child’s referral. What do I do?
A: We send the referral at the same time that you received this text. Since the referrals are typically sent through fax, it may take up to 30 minutes for them to receive it. Once they receive it, they also need some time to process it. If they are still saying that they have not received it after 5 business days, please give us a call and we can see what the issue is.
Q: My child was already seeing a specialist and the referral was sent to a different office. Why did that happen?
A: Sometimes we do not have records of the other specialist or the referral coordinator was not informed. Please give us a call and we can resend it for you 🙂
Occasionally, there is a different reason. It is possible that the specialist’s office has closed or they do not accept your insurance anymore. If you have changed insurances recently, it may be possible that the specialist does not accept your new insurance. Regardless, please give us a call so we can look into it for you 🙂
Q: I don’t like the location you sent the referral to. Can I please change specialists?
A: If you have already seen the specialist, you will need to see us for another appointment. This appointment is required by your insurance since it would be considered a new referral. (If you have private insurance, this may not apply to you. Please give us a call and we can double check.)
If you have not seen the specialist, we can transfer your referral to a different location. Please call us as soon as you know so we can get it changed before it’s too late. If you have a preferred location for it to be sent to, please let us know and we will gladly send it to them 🙂
Q: The specialist doesn’t have an appointment soon. What should I do?
A: Some specialists are in high demand and may not have sooner availability. We try our best to send your referral to the office with the shortest wait time. If you find an office that can see you sooner, please call us and let us know! We can get the referral switched over to them and it will also help our other patients get seen sooner 🙂
Q: The specialists says that they do not accept my insurance. Why did this happen?
A: We try to update our referral directory as much as possible. Sometimes, a specialist stops accepting an insurance and we are not made aware of it. If this happens to you, please give us a call and we can send it to another specialist who accepts your insurance
Q: The specialist says they can’t see my child due to their age. What can I do?
A: Sometimes specialists see patients that are your child’s age but do not accept new patients at their age. If you are told that they will not see your child due to their age, please call us and we can confirm with the specialist. If they are still unable to see your child, we will send the referral to a different specialist and let you know 🙂
Q: The specialist says that they are not accepting new patients. Why did this happen?
A: Sometimes specialists stop accepting new patients and do not make us aware. If they are not accepting new patients, please call us and we will get it changed for you 🙂
