What to Expect With Your New ABA/Occupational/Physical/Speech Therapy Referral
1. Your referral will be sent to a specialist
Once the referral has been sent, you will receive a text from us with the specialist’s information.
If you have multiple referral, we will try to group services together with the same specialist if possible. If you have a specialist that you prefer, please let us know as soon as possible.
2. The specialist will call you to set up an appointment
If you have not heard from the specialist within 10 business days of the referral being sent, please try contacting them directly first.
The specialist will make multiple attempts to contact you. If they are unable to get in contact with you, it may result in additional delays.
3. The initial evaluation will be completed by the specialist
Once your child has been evaluated, a treatment plan or a “Plan of Care” will be created and sent to us for our provider to review with you.
4. We will call you to schedule a follow-up appointment to go over the Plan of Care from the specialist
During this appointment, we will review the plan of care with and our provider will sign it. If you want to change specialists or have any additional questions, you can ask the doctor during this appointment.
5. We will send the signed Plan of Care back to the specialist so they can start your therapy services
Once they have received the signed Plan of Care, they will call you to set up your first therapy appointments.
If this is the first time that your child is receiving these services, we may schedule a 6-month follow-up to ensure that you are happy with the services that your have been receiving. If any changes need to be made, we can start the change process that same day.
It is typically required by insurance to get an updated referral and plan of care a minimum of once a year.
As that time gets closer, the specialist(s) will send us a new Plan of Care. Once we receive this document, we will call you to schedule an appointment to go over the updated plan.
